Paper mache, Globe, Creek Trash, Bird Skull

16 x 26 x 16

This piece began with my participation in a "Creek Cleanup" in my city. The trash in the Pacific Ocean in the globe was on its way to the real Pacific Ocean. I was inspired by the images of Chris Jordan (, showing baby albatrosses dead in their nests because their parents fed them plastic.

I created it as part of an "Art Tag" round-robin with the Northern California Women's Caucus for the Arts, ( with the theme "Absence/Presence": the presence of trash means the absence of birds.
