Cup 12: Eyes
There are people in me who shut their eyes tight.
The last time they looked they saw something so scary they thought they would die.
The only way they could stay alive was to not look.
They are like a lot of people out in the world, so scared they don’t even remember what scared them.
They were children.
They hide in some closet, eyes squeezed tight. It’s life or death.
I invite them out. The world is not as dangerous as you think.
They don’t even listen, and I’m not sure I believe it.
